Taranganba Donkey Stud, which has
since 1972 been involved in the breeding of many types
of donkey - Australian, Irish, English, American Mammoth
and Mediterranean - is now concentrating primarily on
breeding that engaging little creature, the Miniature
Donkey.
Situated in the beautiful Armidale district of the New
South Wales Northern Tablelands, the Principals of the
Stud, Keith and Barbara Hoole, feel that the good soil
and the brisk, clear air provide an ideal environment
for their minis.
THE MINIATURE DONKEY
The miniature donkey is categorised by size, not necessarily
by breed. Although miniature donkeys are more readily
associated with the Mediterranean breed, any adult donkey
of at least 5 years of age, that is 36 inches or under
at the wither, is said to be a miniature.
Our Stud Jacks are imported or have imported blood lines.

sires page.
Our jennies are
mostly small and miniature Irish and English donkeys,
with a resulting part-bred offspring showing the best
characteristics of both parents. Being quiet and affectionate,
miniature donkeys are easy to handle and to care for.
As with all donkeys the basic needs for minis are fresh
clean water, good quality feed, without being too lush
and rich, safe fencing, regular parasite control and
foot care. Plus, of course, plenty of T.L.C.
Apart from being wonderful pets, mini donkeys make great
companions for other animals, mounts for tiny tots and
are very capable and showy in harness. |
